Question

Value of Forticonverter

Hi!

I need to migrate a Fortigate 200E cluster to a Fortigate 200F cluster.

What do you think about Forticonverter? Did it work as expected for you?

How does it work? Is it sufficient to make a "new-interface <-> old-interface" mapping and it produces a working config?

Thank you for your thoughts

Hello @wezza2
As I understand that you are having a migration query.

It is recommended that the FortiConverter service is used for this task. Please be informed that using forticonverter would require a valid license.

Kindly refer the below document links for using Forticonverter tool.

Hello wezza2

The only think you might need to perform during migration steps you need to map:
"new-interface <-> old-interface"
Additionally, if you are using Fortitoken as 2FA you dont need to reassign.
You can easily verify the converted configuration.

FortiConverter is the best bet but keep in mind, it is not 100% conversion. Some config that is not compatible between both models will need to be adjusted manually.

If your approach is manual conversion, keep a copy of the original configuration at a minimum.
