Using iPad to control RDP through VPN browser

My employer has fortinet VPN set up through a browser and can access my work PC through a RDP. Works fine with laptop but with iPad I can log on and see work PC screen but I can't control it. Have iPad mouse and keyboard. Tried in both safari and chrome. Is it even possible and if so what do I have to do I can control mouse cursor on work PC through ipad?
