Use/Connect FortiAP to another brand controller

Hey all,

Was just wondering if anyone has info on whether you can connect a FortiAP to another Wi-Fi controller brand (i.e. like a Cisco/LinkSys or even a D-Link Unit), or if FortiAP's can only work/be connected to a FortiGate?

My FortiGate unit died on me, but I have a good LinkSys Wi-Fi unit lying around, so want to connect it to it.  just not sure if it can be done and if you can configure/access it with it (or another controller brand).

Any info, or how-to assistance on how to do this, would be greatly appreciated.
