as per https://www.fortiguard.com/psirt/FG-IR-24-015 it would seem that 7.2.8 should be in the fixed version for that vulnerability

Hi chungdao,

Yes, CVE-2024-21762 was addressed in FortiOS 7.2.7, and is subsequently covered in 7.2.8 as well.

You can see the release notes here: https://docs.fortinet.com/document/fortigate/7.2.7/fortios-release-notes/289806/resolved-issues

In particular:

989429

FortiOS 7.2.7 is no longer vulnerable to the following CVE Reference:

  • CVE-2024-21762

In short, your customer won’t need to take any action to protect that particular FortiGate, as far as I am aware.

I hope that helps!
