Curious, why wont the router let me enter the following IP/subnet combo on the wan port? IP address 72.243.135.232 Subnet mask 255.255.255.248 appears to be a valid combo, so is it possible something is screwy in the router itself? desperate to figure this out, thanks for any help

Unless my math is wrong, 72.243.135.232 is the network address (first IP) of your subnet. A usable range would be 72.243.135.233-238, with 239 being the broadcast address. For an easier to comprehend example, you also would not be able to use 10.10.10.0/255.255.255.0 for the same reason.
