Upgrade from FortiGate 60C to FortiGate 60E

What is the easiest way to upgrade from a FortiGate 60C to FortiGate 60E. Can you restore the configuration backup from the 60C onto the 60E? I'm sure that the FortiOS versions would not match at all.

it depends on your configuration, interface used, ...

your config will be restored in a newer version of Fortios, so "old stuff" maybe upgrade in "new stuff" just like it does wen you upgrade to a new version.

you can try while on back-office and use this command to check errors :

    diagnose debug config-error-log read

Providing both units are on the same firmware, it should be possible to load the 60C config onto the 60E providing the 60E config header line is copied/pasted over the one found in the 60C config.  The only differences I can see between the two models is 60C's 5x internal ports vs 60E's 7x internal ports.  (see FD30056 or 10063.)

Glancing at the firmwares, it looks like the 60C is can only be upgraded to firmware 5.2.x. The 60E appears to be shipped/starts out on firmware 5.6.x, so while using the "swap header line" trick on the 60C config file to get it to load on the 60E there will likely be a lot of errors (considering there is a firmware upgrade path that needs to be followed or else things break).
