[transparent] L2 vs port pairing

Hello,

I searched documeation about the different between L2 and port pairing(virtual wire in 5.4). The only difference I found is the L2 learn the mac address, and port pairing no.

But I don't know the advantage/disavantage of each solution.. Is anyone can explain me what is the main advantage of each solution ?
