Tranfer VDOM license between Fortigates?

If I buy extra VDOM licenses for a Fortigate 1000D and wish to buy a spare Fortigate 1000D to act as hardware failover do I have to buy seperate VDOM licenses for the hardware replacement or in the event of a failure would I be able to to transfer the VDOM license over?

Thanks

If it's RMA'd,  than support will transfer the license. I don't think you can buy a 2nd unit and just transfer the vdom license over without support involvement. The vdom license key is used against that one fortigate unit.

Once again, if the 1st unit is  under  support contracts, than TAC will initialize the vdom license transfer to the RMA device from my experience.

Thanks for the response.  That's good news in the sense it can be done.

Do Fortinet TAC have good response times for this sort of thing? In the scenario that a Fortigate failed and I needed to get up and running a replacement with the same VDOM license transferred to the replacement unit I would hate to be waiting ages for this to be done. Or would I have to wait for the RMA to be complete before they would transfer the license?

Don't know, contact support. In my last ticket with a hardware failure, support took 2 days to send the new  chassis. I two have wonder about cold spares, but we run  A/P in all critical sites so this issue is mute for me.
