Hello FortiGate Community,

Does FortiGate Natively Support mTLS/SPIFFE?

If SPIFFE has to be integrated with FortiGate, what is the recommended approach? if you have any integration guides, please provide.

I couldn't  find any public information regarding this integration.

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

Yes it natively supports mTLS:

https://docs.fortinet.com/document/fortigate/7.6.0/new-features/602591/support-mtls-client-certification-for-external-feed-connections-7-6-1

And does not natively support SPIFFE/SPIRE for workload identity management. FortiGate supports standard X.509 certificate-based authentication (including mTLS), but does not directly consume or validate SPIFFE IDs or integrate with SPIRE as a workload identity provider.

Regards.
