Standalone use of FortiAP FAP-221C without Fortigate

I would try FortiCloud as a controller. You first need to create an account at https://login.forticloud.com/

You need to use a legit email address to confirm. Then get in FAP221C via GUI and choose FortiCloud as AC Discovery Type and put you email address and password to register it at the FC. It obviously needs to have Internet connectivity. The can be configured at the FC.

The default (limited storage) FortiCloud service is free.

HI i know this is a very old post but i cant find anything els on this - I have 3 fortiAP`s 221C i used to have a fortigate firewall but since changed the firewall and switched the APs out for Ubiquitis however i still want to use the fortiAPs but i cant figure out how to get them to connect, i have tried adding them to forticloud which i can do but theres no option to configure or set them up. I have seen posts about getting onto the GUI but i cant, i have tried putting my laptop into the same IP range but i still cant on my only guess is that itsn ot getting a DHCP address which makes it more difficult.

Any assistance would be appreciated,
