Question

SSL VPN and DNS Registration

We currently have approximately 40% of our SSL VPN users not registering to our DNS server. We have ensured the Register this connection's addresses in DNS is checked. I have tried different things, but nothing is working to get all devices on the VPN registering to DNS.

Please help!!

Hello hrutledge,

We will help you count on us :)!

May I ask you:

- Which units you are using?

- Which versions of Fortios?

Thanks a lot in advance.

I just found this article in our Knowledge Base:

https://community.fortinet.com/t5/FortiClient/Technical-Tip-How-to-enable-workstation-DNS-registration-through/ta-p/196305

Could you tell me if it helped?

Hey hrutledge,

make sure the machines are domain joined machines. These should automatically register. If these are not domain joined, you might have to enable non-secure DNS updates on the server (since secure updates go for a server only).

The policy from the sslvpn interface towards the DNS server should be free of inspection and UTM for testing to see this has any effect.

Best regards,

Markus
