Hey All, We receive a high amount of email sent to fictitious email addresses within our domain. Currently the Fortimail unit rejects these emails. Is it possible to change the recipient verification over to discard the email rather than reject? Thanks for any help anyone can give me on this. Model: Fortimail 100 F/W: 3.0 MR4 Mode: Gateway

Clear Answer: No. This would even give you more traffic, because then the whole mail data would be accepted first an then dropped! We have similar cases, where there is up to 80% of all mail transactions are due to invalid recipients... but this doesn' t actually put load on the box (because the recipient check is the first of all checks!). We always use LDAP with cache enabled! cheers.roman

Thanks for the response Roman. I wasn' t aware of the performance hit I would take using one vs. the other, so thanks for educating me. -Jason
