Problems to install ovf Fortimanager in vmware workstation 2025 NH2

Good morning, everyone. I have the following problem, but first, let me describe the scenario. I have a virtual FortiGate 8.0 installed (OVF file imported into VMware Workstation 25h2). It's already installed and configured correctly with web access. The issue arises when I try to install FortiManager, the same version as the FortiGate. The OVF file is available in the VM section of the Fortinet support page, and I can download and import it without problems. The problem starts when I launch the VM; it gets stuck in an infinite loop between 'vmlinuz' and then 'extracting the GZ file,' and it never gives me the login option. Can you help me with this?

    Hello Juan

    • Did you verify the image checksum after downloading?
    • Did you check with other FortiGate-VM version (e.g.: 7.6.x or 7.4.x).

Hi, how are you? I've figured out why I couldn't install FortiManager on VMware Workstation. I had to change the hardware compatibility settings in VMware. I was using Workstation 6.5 and changed it to Workstation 17. This allowed me to configure the disks to SATA because, for some reason, it wasn't recognizing the virtualized SCSI disks, and the VM would get stuck in a boot loop. After making this change, I was able to run the VM correctly. Thank you very much for your help. Best regards
