Power Failure and automated file system check

Hello

A Fortigate 60D router will be installed at customer premises where every once in a while a power failure occurs. As the 60D has no HDD and no settings can be changed by the customer I see the chance of corrupting the file system quite small.

How big is the chance of getting into problems with the configuration after a power failure? Or should I just ignore the message and let the system run? However I would like to get the file system automatically get checked after a power failure and if possible get corrected. Can this be done during start up without interactions?

The 60D uses a filesystem on flash (not in RAM) so there are chances to get a corrupted firewall by exposing it to power outages. I'd get a small UPS and be done with it.

A UPS is also installed but this just postpones the problem as the UPS has a limited time of operation. Some of our customers operate the equipment in quite rural areas where the power can fail for a longer period.

The internal network equipment will then either shut down when the UPS goes low on power or can handle power outages.

Alright. You could put something together via 'expect' or 'rancid' scripts to "exec shutdown" the FGT if the outage is prolonged (via SSH CLI, that is). Certainly not a nice situation to deal with.

The problem is not so much if filesystem errors go by unnoticed but if the FGT will boot at all with a corrupted flash.
