Question

Our company bought FG1100E in 2026.

I mean, they are easily powerful enough and fit out usecase. No technical problem at all but they were released in 2019 and go eol September 2031. It does not sound clever to me to lose more than half of its lifespan.

depends. did they get a good deal for them ?

have the reseller/distro brought to their attention that in 2031 it’s end of support ? usually most companies after.5 years go with another brand new hardware anyways so i dont see this date as a problem.

    Hi Ayumi,

I understand your concern, but there is an important distinction in the lifecycle dates that may help put this into perspective.

According to Fortinet's current Product Life Cycle information, the FortiGate-1100E has an End of Order (EOO) date of September 13, 2026, a Last Service Extension Date (LSED) of September 13, 2030, and an End of Support (EOS) date of September 13, 2031.

The EOO date means the product reaches the end of its ordering period; it does not mean that support for existing units ends at the same time. The LSED and EOS dates are separate lifecycle milestones.

Since you purchased the unit in 2026, I would therefore look at the remaining service/support period and your organization's expected refresh cycle, rather than considering the EOO date alone.

If the 1100E meets your technical requirements and the commercial terms were appropriate, it can still be a technically capable platform. The more important question is whether the remaining lifecycle through September 2031 aligns with how long you intend to keep the firewall in service.

I would also recommend confirming the lifecycle dates and available service options with your Fortinet reseller as part of your investment planning.

So, based on the current lifecycle dates, purchasing the 1100E in 2026 does not mean that support ends immediately — there are separate lifecycle milestones to consider.

Hope this helps put the dates into perspective.

I can understand the concern. If the unit is still performing well for the current use case, the remaining support window can make the decision a little more complicated. The FortiGate-1100E is currently listed with support through September 13, 2031, so I’d probably weigh the current cost against how long you realistically expect to keep the hardware in production.
