Question

Options greyed out

I recently installed FC 2.0.148 with VPN and AV (no firewall or webfilter). When I click on the VPN button, the only two options that I have are to TEST or CONNECT. The ADD and IMPORT buttons are greyed out. I' ve installed the license. Every tab that I click on in General, VPN and AV have all the options greyed out. The previous version of FC that was installed (build .064?) did not have these problems. I did this as a clean install, not an upgrade. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Dan

Are you running under a limited user account? If you are administrator, should be OK.

Yes, logged on as administrator. I' m going to try removing the installation (again) and then removing all forticlient registry entries.

More info: I removed build 148 completely and installed build 062 and everything works fine. Then I upgraded to 148 and the buttons are greyed out again. I' ve re-downloaded build 148 just in case I had a bad download but no luck. sigh.

Seems like a perfect moment to open a ticket at the Fortinet support site.

I have the same problem, does anyone have any idea what' s causing this and how I might fix it? Thanks, Martin.

Perhaps a good idea to try the FC release 3.0.142 according to the release notes, it also fixes more than 100 bugs. I think there too embaressed to show them all, as they only mention a few and refer to a 100 or so bugfixes. Cheers, Eric

Yes. Any one experiencing the button grayout problem should try the latest release. It ' s the best client release so far.

Well, the upgrade from 2 > 3 has caused buttons that were available to be greyed out. Specifically the DH group in the IPSec Config with PFS disabled. I have the Forticlient ver 2.0.148 connecting to an Astaro Firewall but 3.0.142 will not work! grrrrr. The only way to get the DH groups to work is if I enable PFS. PFS has to be off for the Astaro and Forticlient to talk.

DH group in phase 2 (ipsec) is only for PFS. If PFS feature is disabled, DH group won' t have any effect. The latest FortiOS 3.0 also has the same behavior.

It seems that you have a buggy windows installation. Try the same thing with another (fresh) windows installation. I suspect that you had another (safenet) VPN client installed prior to the FC installation.
