Question

One or several root Fortigate for multi-site

Hello,

We recently installed 6 Fortigate 70G on the 3 sites of our enterprise. 2 per site for HA.

The 3 sites are equals, connected by a BO VPN by the Internet provider.

Do I configure only 1 Root-Fortigate (following de Fortinet administration guide) or 3 ?

After some research, I found contradictory information online…

Thank you by advance for your response.

Hi @Vesa

What is your requirement?

Do you want to setup security fabric?

How are this firewall connected with each other?

Each it hub and spoke?

Thanks, Salon

Hello,

Yes, our goal is to implement Security Fabric.

The 3 sites are connected in a triangle topology. No “main” or central site.

I deployed yesterday with only one root and 2 downstream: the object replications (for example) are working, but it force us to implement the shared objects on the root Fortigate.

Isn’t it possible to have a circular synchronization?

Thanks,

Laurent

Hi @Vesa

So you usually create object on root FGT and the same object gets sync on the rest of the FGT

Do you want to create some objects only one specific FGT? and do not want to sync it with other FGT?

Thanks, Salon
