Migrate From 60E to 50E?

Is it possible to backup a FortiGate 60E and restore the config to a 50E? If this is possible is it possible to backup a 60E and restore to a 51E? We may need to change FortiGate hardware and was curious if you could backup and restore between different hardware without problems?

Hey,

I tried this only once with a very early 5.6 release. And it was not as easily possible as it is normally with Fortigate units.

This was due to the different switching setups in those two boxes. So just replacing the config header will not do it!! You will need to have a closer look on the "system interface" and "switch-interface" kind of settings to migrate the config!

If we migrate from the exact same device is this a simple and foolproof exercise? i.e. 60E Firmware 5.4.7 to Model 60E Firmware 5.4.7.

I wonder if we substitute a 60E for a 61E if this would be just as easy?

The x0 and x1 models usually only differ by a storage drive. The one units have it. I would imagine going to the x1 from the x0 should be straight forward. The other way around may complain about the drive configuration items.
