macOS Smart Cards

Hello,

I recently had to switch from the web version of FortiClient VPN to the desktop version, while some server maintenance is completed. Currently using macOS 11.4, but this issue existed when I was on 10.15.7 as well.

FortiClient does not detect my Smart Card, which  is required to log onto my company's VPN. The VPN is configured as instructed by my admin. Everyone else who uses this VPN is on Windows, so my admin is unsure of what to do. 

Is this just an unsupported feature or are there specific steps that need to be taken to get this working?
