issues deploying fortinet free licence

Hi guys,

had some issue when trying create an environment test with free fortinet free licence.

Tried to donwload free license with my account but I got same error "dns resolve error"

Can someone help?

FortiManager and FortiAnalyzer both have non-expiring trial licenses with some restrictions (3 devices, 1GB/day log storage, etc.). They're good enough even for some production environments https://100001.onl/ .

Hi

If you mean you get this error on FortiGate then that should mean your FG is not able to resolve hostnames via the configured DNS servers (menu: Network > DNS).

Make sure your FG can contact the configured DNS servers (exec ping x.x.x.x).

Sorry for answering now,

I tried to ping my dns server( that is google.com, since I'm in lab environment) but it doesn't reach the server.

tried to reach fortinet.com, it cannot resolve the name.

I don't understand, I can ping the security appliance but it can't ping my pc.

NB: everything is in could environment with vmware.

Can you ping a public IP from your FortiGate like 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8?

If not then something is blocking FG traffic to outside, like a firewall, a routing issue or a L2 issue.
