Question

Issue with Software not Whitelisting our Product

We are having trouble with our application on machines with FortiClient installed, Our downloader is trying to access cache.manifests.reloadedtech.com is in the category "Information Technology" which is oddly blocked by default. [link]http://screencast.com/t/2X0WI4WE[/link] The settings in the client shows that this category is allowed [link]http://screencast.com/t/qaBZFQjxE2d[/link] So it may be some kind of bug, or a global settings on Forticlient side. fter I added cache.manifests.reloadedtech.com to the Exclusion List, the downloader works without problem. Can you explain why a user has to explicitly whitelabel our domain?

It looks like you are using the FortiClient beta, so it might be better to post this topic in the beta forum (https://forum.fortinet.com/tt.aspx?forumid=129), in case it's a bug.

    Thanks I posted over here:

Is there really no other way for b2b whitelisting other than posting on a forum? We are over a week into this issue and it is hurting our shared users trying to use our products.

By default (depending on what version of firmware is being run), all categories are set to allow. However, the admin has a choice to set each category to be blocked or allowed, as well as a few others.

The rating overrides (the exclusions) allow the admin to re-categorize urls locally. So, for example a firewall might block all social media pages, but there could be an override which allows Facebook.

reloadtech.com is rated as 'Information Technology' (check ratings here), so if the firewall is set to block that category (it isn't by default), an override will need to be set to allow it.

That is the thing, this is a default install of the demo of your application and no blacklist rule has been created for the application. Shouldnt it work by default in that category for most installs?

How are your webprofiles actually configured? If you can get to the CLI - run this command and post the output here

    show webfilter profile
