Question

IPsec variant of SSLVPNcmdline?

Greetings,

I'm working for an IT system house, and we are currently in the transition from SSL VPN to IPsec.

The biggest issue we are currently facing is that we have used the SSLVPNcmdline tool integrated in our support software to connect to our numerous customers.

Now I'm wondering if there are any alternatives we can use with IPsec?

Hey Delta_E,

you can use some native VPN clients for IPSec depending on your configuration (if you're not doing SAML authentication, for example). This is a slightly dated guide (refering to Windows 10): Technical Tip: How to establish VPN connection between Windows 10 and FortiGate with L2TP over IPSec using PSK

You can also use other non-Fortinet VPN clients capable of IPSec to connect to FortiGate, but some FortiClient-reliant variations (like SAML as mentioned above, for example) may not be possible without FortiClient.

Other (non-FortiClient) IPSec clients might offer command line capabilities that FortiClient does not.

Cheers,

Debbie
