iPhones and China?

Not sure where to ask this, figure this is as good a place to ask:

On a whim yesterday (actually, the decision was based on a conversation with my kid, whom was following directions a youtube video that had him change his server location on a game he plays to Asia for some supposed exploit), i setup a firewall policy to block outbound traffic to China.

I was surprised, today, when i saw that the policy had matches... LOTS of matches.

It looks like the two iPhones on our network are making tons of connections out to China.

Some of the destinations have RNDS and point to stuff like z.cn, www.amazon.cn, dl.amazon.cn, but many of the IPs don't resolve to anything. I can't imagine why we'd be connecting to the Chinese instance of Amazon.

Is this normal for iphones?

TIA
