Question

I have a old Fortigate 100D when i connect it via console i get Initalized boot device failed

RAM activation
CPU(00:000106ca bfebfbff): MP initialization
CPU(01:000106ca bfebfbff): MP initialization
CPU(02:000106ca bfebfbff): MP initialization
CPU(03:000106ca bfebfbff): MP initialization
Total RAM: 4096MB
Enabling cache...Done.
Scanning PCI bus...Done.
Allocating PCI resources...Done.
Enabling PCI resources...Done.
Zeroing IRQ settings...Done.
Verifying PIRQ tables...Done.
Boot up, Initialize boot device failed.

 

Changed Different Hard drives and still same error I cannot even get to the tftp configuration to install the latest OS

 

Anyone have any insight about this error?

That looks like the point just before you can interrupt and initiate "flush&upload" the boot partition.  
I think it's a hardware problem.

thats what i am trying to figure out if its the bios chip thats causing it or the SSD

Worth trying to format the disk and installing the firmware via TFTP, please follow this guide: https://community.fortinet.com/t5/FortiGate/Technical-Tip-Formatting-and-loading-FortiGate-firmware-image/ta-p/197617 

 

Keep in mind that the config will be wiped clean.

I do not even get to the press any key to display configuration option so it will not allow me to attempt TFTP.
