How to save the config

Hi there, I configured the BGP peering with our PE and ISP router through the GUI and then executed " show router bgp" on the firewall CLI. The output did not show any peering configured. I had to configure the BGP peeing and route injection through the CLI. How can I save the changes made to the firewall config through the gUI? I read about cfg save command, but when I tried to search the setting in the firewall config, I could not find anything. http://docs.fortinet.com/fgt/handbook/cli_html/index.html#page/FortiOS%205.0%20CLI/execute.31.008.html Plz help. SO my questions is : If I add polciies or make any changes in the firewall GUI, how can i ensure that the config has been saved. Thanks Anne

Hi, If you didn' t change the default auto-save settings the FGT will auto save it when you log off from the gui or CLI. THP_LAB # config system global THP_LAB (global) # set cfg-save automatic THP_LAB # end Sometimes I do that I click on the CLI on the dashboard and then I press CTRL+C to quit from the CLI and if changes were made it will autosave the config.

Thanks AtiT. I dint config the firewall and I don' t know what it is set to I searched the whole config but could not find anything for cfg-save. How can i check this?

Sounds like some other problems are exhbit. You do know with most bgp related stuff, you have to execute a clear? i.e FG100C2G12613202 # execute router clear bgp all Clear all BGP peers as Clear BGP peer by AS number dampening Clear route flap dampening information external Clear all external peers flap-statistics Clear route flap statistics ip Clear BGP peer by IP address As far as I know, their' s no way to execute the router clear from the GUI.

Just to clarify: changes made in the GUI are effective immediately after hitting " Apply" or " OK" (this is not a Checkpoint...). ' Effective' and ' saved' are different stati, though. IMHO your case is special to the BGP setup. But I' ve had cases in the past where simply adding a static route would not ' take' . Deleting and re-creating made it work. Or was it a reboot? Can' t recall.
