Question

How to reset guest users counter?

Hi

I've noticed that every time I create batch guest users, the number in the username keeps increasing:

user0250

user0251

user0252

...and so on.

I have already deleted all users and the guest group.

However, after creating a new guest group and generating new batch users, the numbering continues from the last user (e.g., user0253, user0254...).

I can't find where this counter is stored or how to reset it.

Thanks.

Hi @GGiampaoli ,

Could you please share how you created the users?

Hi

This is FortiOS 7.2.11

User & Authentication > Guest Management

I create the new Guest Group:

Then I create the users:

It creates the users, but the counter keeps increasing even when there are no previous guest users:

If I delete thos five users and create new ones, the counter starts in 267.

If I try to use CLI, it doesn't work:

Hi @GGiampaoli ,

This is by design and no reset.

Workaround:

You may use the "Specify" option.  However,  in this way, you will lose the "Batch Creation" function and have to create the guest user accounts one by one.

Hi,

There is no reset for the counter; it will continue until 9999 and reset.
