How to Add Password Protection to an XML Configuration in FortiClient EMS (TRIAL VERSION)

Good morning teams 😊;

For FortiClient EMS Trial, I created an IPsec VPN tunnel.

However, I cannot export the XML configuration file with the VPN password included.

Is there a way to export the VPN XML configuration with a password?

What I would like is that when the user imports the XML configuration file (with forticlient) , they are required to enter a password before they can access the VPN.

for FortiClient connected to EMS, usually the configuration/settings are pushed by EMS to the client

you have the option to disable the backup/export of the settings from EMS.

in VPN-only version, in order to create a backup conf file, you need to set a password for backup which it will be required to be inputed at restore.

as for entering a password to connect to VPN, isnt this already in place? doesnt the user need to input username/password to connect ?

Thank you for your response.

I have disabled the backup/export of the settings from EMS.

To connect to the VPN, the user imports the XML file. The password field appears, and the user can export the file without entering a password.

After that, the user can enter their login and password to connect to the VPN.

You mean you would like to import the VPN XML config with user password to be included so that user does not need to enter the username/pwd when connecting the VPN?

I wanted the user to be required to enter a password when importing the XML file from Forticleint

The problem is that the import succeeds even without entering the password. (Before the step of entering login and password for VPN access)
