Looking at buying some Fortinet kit, has anyone experienced failure within a year or two?

Is the quality good, or does it improvement in terms of things failing?

Whats your experience?

hm I have FortiGates here that are 7+ years old and the only problem they have is that they don't have licenses anymore but they still run fine and you can still get current FortiOSes for them.

But I also had a few ones dying (1x 100E died, 2-3x 90 series)

Unfortunately that 100E had just gone out of licenses so no more rma :(

The 90 series died because of defective flash roms long after they ran out of license...

In case of any issues Fortinet offers good support too.

Hi kristaa,

Fortinet devices, including FortiGate firewalls and FortiSwitch switches, are designed for enterprise use and typically provide stable operation over multiple years when deployed under recommended environmental and operational conditions and do not see failures within 1–2 years.

Hardware failures within the first 1–2 years are not common, but as with any electronic equipment, isolated cases may occur.

All devices are covered under Fortinet’s hardware warranty and RMA support, ensuring prompt replacement in the event of a confirmed hardware fault.

Additionally, in the event of any issue requiring immediate attention, Fortinet provides prompt telephonic support to ensure timely assistance and resolution for customers.
