hot-add a new connection to a functional lacp

Hello,

 

Ive got  this situation with a fortilink lacp already working but only 1 physical connection.

I wan to add a new connection but I want to confirm if I can add the cable while hot-swapping without any disruption, and the business doesn't allow for a maintenance window, I'd like to know if adding a cable between the firewall and the switch would cause any problems. Additionally, I'd like to know if any further configuration is necessary, given that the firewall is already configured with the FortiLink LACP to use this new physical connection.

 

Any suggestions or link would be really appreciated.

I have previously tested kind of the same thing in a LAB. Adding a new cable in Fortilink will not make any changes, the actual Physical interface keeps remaining online. You should check how split-interface is configured in FortiLink. If it is enabled only one interface will be active at the same time. If it is disabled both interfaces come up. This normally depends on how the connectivity between Fortigate and the Switch/es is configured. If you provide a Networkplan I can give you more suggestions.

Thanks for your reply, LAG interface has split option disable since this will be connected to the same Fortiswitch. The plan is using both physical interfaces connected between FortiGate (HA Cluster), so additional cable will be connected on port2 on both Gates to 2 ports on a unique Fortiswitch.

 

This is the current distribution:

So, we are planning to add port2 from the Gates to any available ports on the switch, any considerations regarding configuration on the fortiswitch? or this is transparent and auto negotiated?

Hello, 

did you have a chance to setup this one? In the fortiswitch it is auto negotiated, no changes need to be made.
