Question

GUI bug: Last firewall policy duplicates and displays at the top during loading on FortiOS 7.6.7

Subject:

[FortiOS 7.6.7] Policy GUI infinite loading and missing policies in By-Sequence view

Description:

We currently have a total of 514 firewall policies (Policy IDs 2 through 515). Due to a GUI bug causing an infinite loading loop, we switched the view to By Sequence and applied a filter to force-load the policies.

Although the filter counter indicates that all 514 policies exist, the rendering goes through 4 separate loading passes, during which exactly 4 policies fail to render and are omitted from the display.

In FortiOS 7.6.7, 4 out of 514 policies are rendered as duplicates on the GUI, causing 4 actual policies to remain hidden. Additionally, an infinite loading bug occurs during initial page load—similar to the Interface Pair View issue—which can only be temporarily bypassed by removing table columns.

I would suggest collect logs using the Fortinet support tool and raise a TAC Ticket

Since this was reproduced on a laboratory test bed (as data export from the customer's live environment is restricted), opening a formal TAC case may be difficult. However, I wanted to share these finding with the community.

There is an issue which matches with your symptom in 7.6.7.

Can you try below workaround :

Switching to "Interface Pair View" or "Sequence Grouping View"

Let me know if this fix the issue

Hi mjlee,

Could you share the GUI capture to “sferoz@fortinet.com” for more investigation. If there’s a TAC case kindly attach it directly to the case and share the TAC case no for review.

Thanks.

Hello. As this device does not allow us to open a TAC case, opening a case is not possible. Since this is a reproduction test conducted on our internal equipment for an issue that occurred at the customer site, I will capture the GUI and upload it again.

Hi @mjlee ,
Thanks for the logs.
This is a known issue already resolved in version 8.0.1 and in upcoming version 7.6.8 along with few other policy improvements.
Kindly  switch to "Interface Pair View" or "Sequence Grouping View" to avoids the issue.
Thanks,
Feroz
