FortiWeb Config?

So just got some questionable first line support, just wanted to double check - FortiWeb 1000D

First; I thought I read one of the newer versions starting storing a backup of the config on the HDD as default? Is this true?  If so, where/how is it retrievable. 

Second; removing the HDDs (front slot loading HDDs) for any reason violates the warranty? Is this true?
