Give them a bit of time. After authorizing, they will reboot. Also be sure that your fortilink interface has NTP server enabled and that the DHCP server is providing that NTP along the address.

If the device doesn't still come online, check that if it has obtained an IP address. If it has, login to the device via SSH and check that the time matches with the Fortigate. If not, set correct time and hope that the device comes online. Update the software and it that doesn't help, figure out what's wrong with the time synchronization.

When I followed the instructions on this website up to step 4, I found that using the existing FortiLink did not work. Do I need to change any settings?

Which version of FortiOS and FortiSwitch firmware?

FortiOS: v7.6.5 and FortiSwitch v7.6.5
