Question

Fortiswitch, HTTP, “Unable to login at this time. Please try again later.”

LS,

I'm having the issue that login in to a switch using https give the following error messages in the Analyzer.

"Administrator admin login failed from https(x.x.x.x) because of wrong time schedule."

If I do this using ssh i will get the following error message.

"Administrator admin login failed from https(x.x.x.x) because of invalid user name"

I have reset the passwords using the fortimanager without errors and I'm able to login to 2 other switches attached to the same fortigate.

ssh from on switch to the other does not work either.

Fortigate is a 40F with 7.4.9 FortiOS.
Fortiswitches are 124E and 124F with version 7.4.8 software.

While writing this I just realize the 2 working units are the 124F and the failing one is the 124E unit.

Failing means the login failing. otherwise the unit is fully operational and can be managed from the Fortimanager.

Any ideas?

Willem

Hi again,

Please let me know if the following troubleshooting steps help:

  1. Verify Time Schedule:

    • Access the FortiSwitch-124E through FortiManager or console access.
    • Check the admin account settings to see if there is a time schedule applied that might be restricting login times.
    • If a time schedule is applied, adjust it to allow login at the desired times or remove it if not needed.
  2. Check User Credentials:

    • Double-check the username and password being used for SSH login.
    • Ensure that the credentials match those configured on the FortiSwitch-124E.
  3. Synchronize Time Settings:

    • Ensure that the time settings on the FortiSwitch-124E are synchronized with the FortiGate and FortiManager.
    • Use NTP (Network Time Protocol) to keep the time consistent across all devices.
  4. Review FortiManager Configuration:

    • Since the FortiSwitch-124E can be managed from FortiManager, review the configuration settings in FortiManager to ensure there are no discrepancies.
  5. Firmware Consistency:

    • Ensure that the firmware versions on the FortiSwitch-124E and FortiSwitch-124F are consistent and compatible with the FortiGate running FortiOS 7.4.9.

Hi Stephen,

Thanks for the feedback.

I have, had, already done all off the 4 suggested items. The last one firmware consistency, I have just checked and we are in good shape there as well.
Fortigate OS = 7.4.11, fortiswitch OS = 7.4.8.

Unfortunately this did not solve the login issue.
Could this be related to the dynamic-capability?
S124E = 0x00000000000000025109227594c2b9d7
S124F = 0x00000000000000025102267594d3b9d7

Note the 9 versus 2 in 25109 and 25102.
As this is the only difference which I was able to find. And yes, I did compare the configs.

We are considering to replace these 2 switches, but this is not desired solution both financial and operational wise.
