Question

Fortirecorder System Load What is it exactly

I am using a FortiRecorder VM with a number of cameras. Unlike the 400F's I am seeing the system load reach 99% for the same number of camera's as the 400F, the network environment is very similar. 1gb to the recorder and all the camera's are on one switch running at 100 Mbps. What I seem to not be able to find is any information on what System Load means exactly.

What is System Load?

Hi,

System load, in the context of FortiRecorder, refers to the overall utilization of system resources such as CPU, memory, and disk I/O. When the system load reaches 99%, it indicates that the FortiRecorder VM is heavily utilizing its resources, potentially causing performance issues. To investigate further and identify the specific processes causing high system load, you can use the CLI command "diagnose system top 10" to view the resource consumption of each process. If you find a process with abnormally high resource usage, you can terminate it using the command "diagnose system kill 9 <pid_int>". Additionally, optimizing the performance of your FortiRecorder VM by deleting or disabling unused cameras, configuring storage options efficiently, and reducing unnecessary logging can help alleviate high system load issues.
