Fortinet Packet Filter Driver

Hi Guys, I am installing Forticient (Anti-Virus only) on my servers. In the network connection settings a ' ' Fortinet Packet Filter Driver" is now installed, this has given me issues with backup products not seeing the clients so my question is - what does the packet filter driver actually do and can i install it. Thanks
