FortiManager Cluster and License

Good Morning.

 

Can someone explain more about the license and the FortiManager VM ?

I have a customer how would like to have a fortimanager VM but also a backup one. Can I propose a Cluster then? or Could he make a snapshot of his VM and load it on an other HyperV/Xen ? What about the license in that case?

I support also that with a FortiManager VM Base license he can not install it twice to make a cluster? He must buy 2 licenses then?

    Hi Eric,

     

    If you want a cluster you need to buy two licenses, if you try to activate a second FortiManager with the same license, the license will get locked, and you need to contact support.

     

    You can have a backup of the Manager, but do not try to run it at the same time, or at least not with Internet connectivity then it will be detected as second license and get locked.
