FortiLog Reports in the FortiGate Products

Wow... Has anyone looked at the new FortiLog servers? http://www.fortinet.com/products/fortilog.html Check out the PDF file datasheet. It would be super nice if there were reports like that built into the individual FortiGate units. I only have two FG-300' s. The FortiLog servers could be marketed to companies with 5 or more FGs. It' s not worth purchasing a separate log server for only two.

hallo JBult, i agree with you ! fgt " onboard" reporting possibilities are poor .......upgrading it would be fine since i saw the fortilog pdf with the report screenshot ... i want to have one :) looks very nice ! i think we need 2.80 for connecting our fgt' s to a fortilog :( greetings

This product in the below URL comes very highly recommended by a few fortigate users that I know. http://www.eiqnetworks.com/products/eiqprofessionalsuite.shtml Maybe worth the look, we are purchasing it to do our logging / reporting.

Of course I am sure they could come up with a software version of the Fortilog that could run on a PC to generate the reports. This could be good for single firewall installations.

Reporting on Firewall devices is all we do. We currently support 2.5 and 2.8 firmware We are a hosted service so all you need to do is point your syslog our way and you can just log in and dynamiclly view the reports that you want to see Our reports even drill down to every web page that every person went to during any given period of time. If you dont want more software, potentially with the overhead of a dedicated machine and configuration within the software then a hosted service such as ours may be benificial to your company whether you have 1 firewall or 100. www.ongarde.com

I' ve looked at the site Adam, but it' s very difficult to tell what is actually there. I don' t see the Fortinet name anywhere. I don' t see any product names that grab me or are very descriptive. I wasn' t aware that analysis hosting was available, but I can see it from talk of the " Security Information Monitoring Portal" . I don' t see a demo link anywhere with sample reports of what it might look like. I' m sorry to be so negative, but the website is just a blur of nebulous marketing information. I looked at it before on the recommendation of someone else, but it turned me off. It' s too much work to read through the entire site trying to find something that I might be able to use. Your description above was more useful to me than the website.

jbult your input is very helpful, unfortunately marketing has not made the site easy to grasp what we do. I will definitely pass your comments on to them as it is not good business to confuse potential customers. Also the site is a little behind development as Fortinet has been added to our supported devices in the last 6 weeks or so. Thanks again
