Fortigate virtual firewalls and Forticare support query

Hi, appliance based firewalls like the 1000D function without an active Forticare support contract, is the same the case for virtual fortigates?  i.e. if a fortigate virtual firewall license is purchased along with 1 year basic forticare, will the virtual firewall continue to operate after the forticare license expires?

    it will.

    FortiCare is just needed for RMA and Support and to get Firmwareupdates.

    UTM will not work without UTM Licenses

    The rest will continue to work.

    Without support or licenses the AV, Application control and IPS will continue to work but you just won't get updates to the database.

     

    The webfiltering will work for URL filtering only. Any webfiltering with category based filtering will stop working however.
