Question

Fortigate Firewall email notifications minimum interval

I have an email notification set up to alert when one of our ISP’s goes down. The problem I’m having is the Minimum interval setting is not working. I have it currently set for 2 minutes and it immediately alerts me when this happens when no delay. I’m getting way more notifications than i need to for this. The model is a 60e and the firmware is 7.2.8. Does anyone have any suggestions in order for this to work properly?

It happens about every other day and sometimes multiple times per day. Timestamp is immediate. I’m using the

“Link Monitor changed state from alive to dead, protocol: ping.” for when the ISP is down

“Link Monitor changed state from dead to alive, protocol: ping.” for When the ISP is up

Hi @itdepartment123

Yes you can delay the automation stitch action

Can you show your config:

show system automation-action

I actually don’t want just a delay i would only like the notification if the ISP is down for 2 minutes or more. It was my understanding that was what the minimum interval was supposed to do.

maybe this explains better what it does

Yes, I have that set to 120 seconds but i still get emails immediately. It doesn’t seem to be working. I’m not sure if its a bug in this version of software or something else.

i think what you are looking for is to add delay before executing an action.

Wouldn’t adding a delay still send an email after the time had passed? I’m only wanting an email if the ISP doesn’t come online in 2 minutes.
