FortiGate 60F USB connection to LapTop does not work

Hi

When the USB Type A cable is connected to the Fortigate 60F USB Mng input and the other side of the USB cable Type C is connected to the LapTop then no connection takes place. Note the cable is a USB Data cable Type A to Type C. Is a UDB Driver required ? Thank you

Hi

FGT USB port is not for management purpose. You can connect either to the serial management port (for serial connection) or to port1 (Ethernet).

Thanks, so for the serial management port i need a RJ45 to USB cable. Then what is the use of the USB port?….thanks

You need to connect to console port to take the access of the fortigate

USB port can also be used for access using fortiexplorer application in your phone

the USB Port can be  used to have the FGT load confg or firmware on boot from a stick.

However there is some FGT Series that additionally do have an usb console port. Those usually were micro- or mini-usb ports.
