FORTIGATE 300E EOL QUESTIONS

Hello, Team!

I’d like to ask about our FortiGate 300E. Its license will expire in January next year, but I saw online that its EOL (End of Life) is in July 2026.

If we don’t plan to buy a new firewall next year and instead move the purchase to 2027, should we still renew the license? Also, if we renew but the unit reaches its EOL, will we still receive FortiGuard services and updates after that?
Thank you! So sorry I'm kinda new to this

Hi John

From Fortinet's Product Life Cycle" page:

  • FG-300E Last Service Extension Date (LSED): 2025-07-15
  • End of Support Date (EoS): 2026-07-15

From Fortinet's "Product Life Cycle Policy" document:

  • Last Service Extension Date (LSED): The last date at which a service extension will be accepted for an existing contract... (it means you cannot renew after this date)
  • End of Support Date (EOS): ...After this date Fortinet, will not sell, manufacture or improve the product and is under no obligation to provide support services... (it means the equipment will not be supported anymore after this date)

(You can find the above info on Fortinet support portal.)

This also mean you need to refresh the hardware (trade up) by January next year at the latest.

The trade up operation will replace your hardware by a new one at a lower cost (lower than when you buy a new one). You just need to contact your Fortinet account manager for that, or your local Fortinet partner.
