FortiGate 300E / 301E and 500E / 501E port s1, s2, vw1 and vw2

does anyone know any documentation which explains about these interfaces (a bit more)?

 

when i search i find the acceleration guides / pages on these devices, but nothing specific on their usage.

 

i assume they point to sniffing and virtual wires, but is there something special associated or is it just a name like dmz or ha?

    checked with support, if the configuration involving them is removed then they can be used as regular ports.

    could you please put some more light on your answer ?

    What is the exact use of these S1 and S2 ports and are there any limitations to consider ?

    Is there any document that can expalin a bit more use of S1 and S2 ports ?

    These ports are pre-configured to do one-arm sniffer and can be used as normal interfaces if ips sniffer mode is disabled:

    set ips-sniffer-mode disable
