FortiEDR "Collector" Deployment
In Administration - Deployment - Collector, there are two available options: “Update Collectors” and “Request Collector Installer.”
For Collector (Agent) deployment, the correct option to use is “Request Collector Installer.”

Through the Update Collectors section, you can update the agent version for the relevant operating system by selecting either a single collector group or multiple collector groups.

When deploying a Collector, after selecting the operating system, you can choose either the current version (n) or the previous version (n-1).
For server systems, using the n-1 version is generally the safer option.
Parameter descriptions
- Aggregator Address = Refers to the main server in the data collection and transmission layer that centrally processes telemetry collected from endpoints and forwards it to the FortiEDR management console.
- Organization = Represents the tenant identity and indicates which company/environment the deployment belongs to.
- Send Installers Link To = The email address where the installer file for the selected operating system will be sent.
- VDI Installation = Used in Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments to prevent duplicate entries in FortiEDR when machines are created from the same image, and to ensure that each machine receives a unique identity.
- Citrix PVS Installation = Ensures that the agent works properly and stably in environments using Citrix Provisioning Services (PVS), where machines run from network-streamed images.
- Use System Proxy Settings = Allows the Collector to use the proxy settings configured on the endpoint in order to communicate with the aggregator or the cloud.
The installer file for the selected operating system is sent to the specified email address.

The file is delivered as a ZIP archive. To extract the ZIP file, an installer/uninstaller password is required.
This password can be viewed from Administration - Component Authentication within the tenant. By clicking Display, the password will be shown.
- Installer .zip

- Install/Uninstall Password

- Changing the Install/Uninstall Password

If you want to reset the password, you need to click Advanced Password Management at the bottom of the same page. From there, you can define and save a new password.
However, there are a few important details to keep in mind:
- Collectors that are currently connected will receive and update to the new password automatically.
- Disconnected collectors will still require the old password if you want to uninstall them, because the new password cannot be updated on collectors that are not connected.
