Fortigates clearly have a CRON type mechanism in them for scheduled updates. And the service forticron runs on teh machine. I wonder if we can get into it to add our own stuff. Jon

Fortigate are linux based, as you already know. A more interesting question should be: - Does Running third party software on fortigate break the warranty? Vink

Actually, I wasn' t thinking about running our own stuff, this kicked off from a qustion regarding automating config backups, but access to CRON could enable all sorts of houskeeping jobs.

The GPL source should be available somewhere... Although to be perfectly honest I' m going to say that there' s really not too much extra I could want out of the box. But the FG60 is just a compact flash card so easy to re-flash if you built your own image.

doshbass, check the knowledge base. You can use SCP to get backups off of a FGT. Just cron the SCP on some remote system and lean back...

Hi Zedd This was a generic sort of thing really, backups was just a suggestion. Jon
