FortiClient MAC Address

That MAC address never transfered over the physical network. It' s just virtual. For DHCP over IPSec, the first available physical NIC' s MAC address will be used. Any reason you want to choose different MAC?

All Notebooks connect via a tunnel and gets some config files depending on the MAC address. Since all MAC addresses are the same now, this clearly does not work anymore.

So one application on the notebooks are using the MAC address of the virtual adapter? The virutal adapter should be the last adapter in the list. So your appliation should be able to find the physical NIC first.

Is there a way to change the forticlient MAC? We are encountering the same issue. Our CORE application is pickup fortclient MAC address instead of the physical machine address.

Have you tried the latest 4.2 FortiClient (4.2.6)? It should have the fix for some type of cards. Why type of ethernet adapter or wireless cards do you have the problem? L.Clarke

Try Forticlient 4.2.6 but no luck. Some how the application pick up the secondary nic card (fortinet virtual adapter) instead of the PC primary adapter. The NIC card in used have an Intel driver. Regards,

Could you check the Mac address of the NIC card for each netbook? Do they have same Mac address? Could you please post some details about the NIC card? L.C

In the past, FortiClient had the similar issues with UMTS GlobeTrotter Express Card that uses a same MAC address for all cards. I believe Qualcomm 3G card had the similar issue as well. It was fixed in FortiClient 4.2.4. If your NIC cards use a same MAC address, you need to contact Fortinet support so you can get the fix in sooner. L.C
