Question

Forticlient install for ARM processors

I have purchased a new Microsoft Surface Pro X and the Forticlient agent and application will not install.  Can someone give me guidance on how to get it installed or if they are working on developing support for ARM processors?

There is a windows store app that is compatible with ARM. It's pretty old and appears to only support VPN functionality.

I have tried that but I don't see where I can Hide invalid cert warning.  Can you point me in the direction on how to get past that hurdle?

I have figured it out and thank you for pointing me to that app again.

Would you mind sharing the fix?  We tried the Windows app but still have no luck with new Surface with ARM processor.

    Hi,

I would try to import your FortGate's default certifcate to the user's personal certificate store within Windows 10 MMC.

Currently you can only use the extremely basic version from the Microsoft Store. I was able to install this version and get it working, though I would not suggest it for a long term solution. I have not been able to find documentation of them working on ARM support yet as we are also looking for full Forticlient support on the Surface Pro X.

Certainly would be nice if the FortiClient app would install with a MS Surface Pro X in the year 2022.

What is the point of paying fees for the FW and licenses.

I see other posts that the FortiClient doesn't work with Apple's M1 chip either.

    Tsk tsk tsk tsk

Yes, I'm thinking about not using Forti any more...

From what I've seen if you can get the MS ARM store copy to work it is only with SSL VPN. I'm just going to run an OpenVPN server and not even think about Forticlient. Company is a joke. Only their cheap prices make their product attractive, rest is a dumpster fire. Only Checkpoint has a ARM client, but their midrange products are slimmed down trash Quantum. Nobody really makes a good firewall anymore. Or their prices, like Palo are a joke.
