FortiClient EMS 7.4 HA Configuration Across Different Networks (DR/FKM) and Licensing Details

Hi Everyone,

How can I configure HA on FortiClient EMS 7.4 devices? The device I will run as Passive will be in the FKM (Disaster Recovery Center), so they will not be on the same network. Is this possible? How does the licensing work? I couldn't find a document for the 7.4 version on the Fortinet side; there is only one for 7.2. Can anyone provide information on this?

Here's the answer I received:

As far as I know, there is no separate license required for HA.  

 

EMS' license is tied to a hardware id, so, if EMS is installed on another vm, technically it will have a new hardware id, requiring a new license.

 

However, the docs don't mention needing separate licensing.

"Hello, first of all, thank you for your assistance. My plan has changed; I am going to deploy two OVA instances to set up an HA structure. However, since my current EMS (Element Management System) is running on a standalone Ubuntu, I encounter errors when I try to restore its backup onto the new OVA-based EMS.

What could be the cause of this, and how can I resolve it? My goal is to successfully migrate the backup from the Ubuntu-based EMS to a new OVA installation of the same version. Best regards.
