Forticlient automatic updates without local admin

Does anyone know the behavior of the automatic update function of Forticlient if the logged in user is not an admin?

I've got a bunch of remote users deployed through EMS and so far none of the clients have updated themselves even though a few newer client versions were released- they're on 5.6.3 and 5.6.5 is now available. We have the "auto-patch" setting turned on in the profile being sent to users and it's set to perform installs when the computers are likely to actually be on.

I know that with EMS we can send a command to manually initiate a deployment, but that requires someone with admin rights to those computers to input their credentials into the console and the clients to have access to the deployment address which is not necessarily externally accessible.
