Forti NAC dot1x

I have requirement to restrict our devices to be authenticated via entra id before the devices connected to the network.

Form what i know this can be fullfilled by enable the 802.1x, but also i heard this can be done even not use 802.1x. ANyonw one know what is proper way, using 802.1x or not?
