Firmware - FortiGate vs. FortiSwitch

We are relatively new to the FortiSwitch. In one installation we have a FortiSwitch S224EP which currently has 6.2.1 firmware. The FortiGate that manages it is running 6.0.9, soon to be 6.0.10. The FortiGate interface offers an upgrade of the switch to 6.4.1. Through Fortinet Support tt looks as though there are also 6.2.3, 6.2.4 as well as 6.4.0 and 6.4.2  releases available. I know that there are sometimes issues when using a firmware from a new family, i.e. 6.2 or 6.4. Many wait to install the newer family releases until there are more releases in the family available. Is this also true for the FortiSwitch? What do others recommend concerning firmware updates?
